We've compiled our top tips for making sure your new bathroom purchase from The Bathroom Store doesn't end up costing you more than expected.
1. Check your order invoice carefully.
We can only help and advise based on the information you have given us. It may be a good idea to check with your bathroom installer that the correct goods have been ordered. If we've had to order them in especially for you, and you need to change or cancel, manufacturers charge a restocking fee of up to 30%, or even refuse to take items back.
2. Allow plenty of time.
It is in your interest to have your bathroom suite delivered to your house well before installation. This gives you time to check, with our delivery team, for any problems and gives you time to correct them. We strongly recommend that you don't book installers or remove existing fittings until you are in possession of your new suite as delays can ocassionally happen that we cannot control.
3. If unsure, don't install...
Unfortunately we cannot take back anything that has been installed. Make sure you give your bathroom products a thorough check-over with our delivery team. If you're in doubt, don't install it, keep all your packaging, and give us a call ASAP.
4. Don't throw away your packaging.
In many cases manufacturers won't take back opened boxes, so please be aware of this. We need the item back in a resalable condition to be able to give you a refund, so keep all your boxes and wrapping.
5. Check your measurements.
If you're ordering special order fitted furniture, bespoke shower enclosures, tiles etc. then we advise you to double and triple-check your measurements. Manufacturers won't take these items back.
6. Find out your water pressure.
Certain taps and shower valves only work with high pressure systems. We can help advise which brassware is specifically for low-pressure, gravity-fed systems, but make sure you let us know this is what you need. Where possible our instore signage states whether a tap or a valve works on low or high pressure. You may need to check with your bathroom installer what water pressure you have to avoid buying the wrong products.
7. Register your guarantees.
Many of our products come with manufacturers' guarantees that vary from a year to a lifetime. Make sure you fill out the guarantee forms that are included within the items box to commence the guarantee period. If you don't complete these forms and send them off, manufacturers can refuse to honour the guarantee.
8. And finally - prolong the life of your bathroom!
- Wood furniture is hugely popular in bathrooms, but it needs care and attention to prolong its life. Make sure that water is not allowed to pool on wooden surfaces, or remain in contact for any long periods of time.
- Be careful in choosing cleaning products to use on your sanitaryware, brassware and wood. Avoid using strong abrasive cleaners containing bleach as they can stain, scratch or dull surfaces.
- When installing a new radiator or towel warmer, add an appropriate inhibitor, such as Fernox, to avoid corrosion and limescaling. Even our pocket-friendly contract range towel warmers will last for years and years provided you do this (and more-expensive premium towel warmers or radiators can be damaged if you don't!)
- Use a shower glass care kit to keep your enclosures looking new and avoid water staining (especially in our local hard water area!) Saves you time and energy too!
